The European preliminary round match of the FINA Men’s Water Polo World League 2014 - a titanic clash between Russia and Serbia - is taking place in the Aquatics Palace as we speak. For the Russian water polo team, it is the second match of the European preliminary round of the FINA Men’s Water Polo World League 2014. Before that, both Serbians and Russians have already played one home match each against Team Romania.

In less than a month, millions of spectators will be glued to the coverage of the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games, the first Games in the history of contemporary Russia.

A meeting of the Organising Committee for the 16th FINA World Championship Kazan 2015 was held in Moscow on Tuesday, December 17. The event was chaired by Sports Minister of Russia, Vitaly Mutko, who also acts as the Chairman for the Organising Committee. The meeting was attended by the leaders of Russia’s aquatics sports federations, government representatives, Tatarstan’s Minister of Youth, Sports and Tourism Rafis Burganov and Director General of the Kazan 2013 Executive Directorate Vladimir Leonov. President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov also took part in the event via video conference.

On New Year's Eve, residents of Kazan will witness a true fairy tale. Three-time Olympic synchro swimming champion Maria Kiseleva prepared a wonderful surprise for citizens and guests of the city. The Little Mermaid and Pirate Treasure, such is the name of the show that will unfold in the Aquatics Palace between December 28 and January 7. The celebrated synchro swimmer attended today a press conference at the Tatar-inform Information Agency where she talked about the final preparations for the show, which will contribute to further promotion of aquatic sports among Russian sports fans.

Voting for the best mascot design for the 16th FINA World Championships Kazan 2015 ends today, at 23:59. You can cast your vote for your favourite design idea on the official website of the championships.

The online voting to select the best mascot design for the 26th FINA World Championships 2015 wrapped up last night. Two design ideas, the Snow Leopard Kitten and the Frog, won a majority of votes. Now it’s up to the competition panel to make the final decision on what mascot will be chosen to convey the spirit of the future world championships.

During their visit to Italy for the Winter Universiade, which starts in Trentino today, the Tatarstan delegation met with A&T EUROPE S.p.A., one of the largest pool construction and maintenance companies in the world and also the Official FINA Partner. In the course of the talks, the parties agreed that A&T EUROPE S.p.A. will provide the 16th FINA World Championships in Kazan with the most up-to-date technologies for installing and operating swimming pools.
