A coach workshop was held during the break between the morning and evening sessions of the Russian Short Course Swimming Championships in Kazan.

Day 1 of the Russian Short Course Swimming Championships saw five finals being contested at the Aquatics Palace in Kazan.

The five-day tournament will see the country’s top swimmers compete for podium spots in Russia’s sports capital.

The Russian Short Course Swimming Championships will take place in Kazan on November 8-12, 2015. The event will be held at the Aquatics Palace, one of Russia’s largest indoor sports venues that several months ago played host to the 16th edition of the FINA World Championships.

A final meeting of the Organising Committee for the 16th FINA World Championships 2015 in Kazan took place at the Ministry of Sport of the Russian Federation on October 7. The meeting saw the summing up of results of this summer’s mega sporting event and a presentation of Tatarstan’s government and ministerial awards. The event was attended by President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, State Secretary and Deputy Minister of Sport of the Russian Federation Natalia Parshikova, Russia’s Deputy Ministers of Sport Pavel Kolobkov and Pavel Novikov, and members of the Kazan 2015 Organising Committee.

A 2,212-strong team composed of volunteers of the Republic of Tatarstan, 20 regions of Russia and 10 countries of the world contributed their time and efforts to the delivery of the 2015 FINA World Championships. 12 world records were set by the world’s top athletes at the aquatics tournament in Kazan but the team of volunteers can be proud of the records of their own that they managed to achieve by staging the best FINA World Championships ever.

Up to 170,000 tourists visited the Republic of Tatarstan during the 16th FINA World Championships. According to the hotel booking database, first arrivals started to come to Kazan as early as on July 18, a few days before the official kickoff of the FINA Worlds 2015. The average room occupancy between July 18 and August 8 was 95%, between August 9 and 19 – 70%.

Today, Interim President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with Tatarstan athletes – members of the Russian national team – who participated in the 16th FINA World Championships in Kazan. The meeting, which was held in the Government House of the Republic of Tatarstan, was also attended by Tatarstan's Minister of Youth and Sports Vladimir Leonov, athletes and coaches.
