Seven days are left to go until the start of the Championships and the team of volunteers selected from among Kazan candidates has already been accredited, provided with uniforms and trained. The majority of them have started their shifts today. The volunteer programme draws to a close and in the days to come the Kazan volunteers will be joined by their colleagues from 20 regions of Russia and 10 foreign countries. The major task for volunteers in the coming month is to provide qualified assistance to the Championships OC in the delivery of the World Aquatics Championships.

City volunteer team leaders became first to take their training in the build-up to the 2015 FINA World Championships. In late May, 11 educational establishments passed general training as part of the educational programme for future helpers of the upcoming sporting event. The training programme features basic information about the Championships, services and key tasks facing the army of Kazan 2015 volunteers.

The names of 2,500 volunteers who are going to lend their hand to the Kazan 2015 Organising Committee during this summer's mega sporting event have been revealed. Hundreds of volunteers from the Republic of Tatarstan, 20 partner regions and 16 foreign countries will be involved across more than 200 positions during the 16th FINA World Chmapionships and the Masters tournament in Kazan.

A team of city volunteers has been assembled based on the results of selection events. 176 students and teachers of Kazan schools will be engaged in creating an atmosphere of hospitality and sports festivity during this summer's FINA World Championships in Kazan. 11 city volunteer booths will be scattered around the host city - close to competition venues, along key Kazan 2015 routes and near tourist destinations - to provide local residents and visitors with information about the upcoming mega aquatics event.

In November 2014, the Kazan 2015 Organising Committee launched selection events in the Republic of Tatarstan and 20 regions of the Russian Federation to choose volunteers willing to contribute to a successful staging of the 2015 FINA World Championships in Kazan. The recruitment campaign is now coming to an end - in February, partner regions settled preliminary lists of volunteer delegations and at the end of March recruiters will wrap up their face-to-face interviews with candidates from Kazan and from cities and regions of Tatarstan.

Another meeting of the Coordination Council for Educational Work of Higher Education Institutions (HEI) of the Republic of Tatarstan was held in Kazan on March 5. The event was also attended by Director General of the Executive Directorate for Sports Projects, Azat Kadyrov, and Head of the Volunteer Department of the Directorate, Anna Zakhmatova. One of the items on the agenda was the preparation of volunteers for the upcoming 2015 FINA World Championships. It was revealed at the meeting that the volunteer team will feature 2,000 candidates from Tatarstan - the major part of whom will be selected from among students.

Another stage of the volunteer recruitment campaign for the 16th FINA World Championships concludes in 20 regions of Russia. Preliminary lists of volunteers who will assist the Organising Committee in staging this summer's major international aquatics event have been finalised. On April 1, 2015, 500 boys and girls who were shortlisted to be part of their regional delegations, as well as 2,000 representatives of the Republic of Tatarstan, will hear the long-awaited 'Congrats! You are in the team!'

23,927 candidates from 69 countries applied to volunteer at the 16th FINA World Championships in Kazan. Online application forms were made available at the official Kazan 2015 website allowing all those interested to apply for volunteering roles at the upcoming sporting event. The application period was September 20, 2014 - January 1, 2015. A volunteer team will be formed by April 2015 and include 2,500 most committed individuals from the Republic of Tatarstan, 20 volunteer programme partner regions and foreign countries.
