Day 9 review: Italian love story and made-in-Russia record

Simone Ruffini grabs 25km open water title

The 25km open water swim event has finished as we speak at the Kazanka Venue, Kazan. Simone Ruffini of Italy topping the podium, was the one who ended an array of open water swimming events among men at Kazan 2015. Another Italian swimmer, Matteo Furlan, has also climbed the podium, rounding it out in third.

Germany tops podium in 5km team event

Rob Muffels, Christian Reichert and Isabelle Franziska Harle, three athletes from Germany became the title holders in the 5km open water swim team event at the 2015 FINA World Championships in Kazan. Their result (55:14.4) was unattainable for their opponents. Since two national teams showed the same time result and both finished second, the bronze medal hasn’t found its owner this time.
