Director General of the Executive Directorate for Sports Projects, Azat Kadyrov, met with members of the 2014 Volunteers' Academy All-Russian Training Camp. For up to an hour he's been talking about Russia's past, present and future sports achievements, traditions, innovations and prospects of sports volunteering.

It was hardly surprising that the forthcoming FIFA World Aquatics Championships became the main topic of the meeting. As part of the camp's educational programme, participants got to know many aspects of the host city's preparation for the international aquatics event, from the brand book, cultural and ticketing programmes to special features of the transport infrastructure and provision of services to client groups. Today regional volunteer movement leaders got the opportunity to learn first-hand the most interesting details, and the agenda addressed a variety of topics. For example, Director General of the Executive Directorate for Sports Projects was asked about the secrets of transforming the Kazan Arena Stadium into an aquatics venue, about volunteering being recognised as the official сurricular practical training for students and about the recipe of a successful bid campaign.

Azat Kadyrov also shared his plans for the upcoming projects - after staging the 2015 FINA World Championships, the capital of Tatarstan will play host to a number of major sporting events. For example, the IAAF World Junior Championships in 2016, the FIFA Confederations Cup in 2017, and the FIFA World Cup in 2018. In addition, according to Azat Kadyrov, the Executive Directorate for Sports Projects will seek to become a federal agent to implement the FIFA 2018 World Cup volunteer programme.

Among other things, Azat Kadyrov touched on one of the most topical issues - All-Russian Physical Training and Sports Complex, titled 'Ready for Labour and Defence (GTO)'. The Executive Directorate for Sports Projects was appointed as the organisation responsible for implementing the GTO complex at the federal level. Despite the fact that today the project implementation is at the stage of strategic and tactical planning, politicians, heads of ministries and departments of culture, as well as leaders of the volunteer movement have already supported the idea of healthy lifestyles and launched online promotions in social networking sites. Events aimed at promoting GTO and healthy lifestyles will kick off in the near future; conditions will be created for residents of all regions of Russia to pass GTO tests. Participation of sports volunteers, Azat Kadyrov said, will be an important contribution to the successful implementation of the project at the local level.

Concluding the meeting, Azat Kadyrov stressed that today Russia is truly a country of sports. The experience gained over the years in the field of sports management suggests that no country in the world is able to invest so many resources, efforts and, most importantly, passion in the delivery of international sporting events, and volunteers of Russia - the most competent and friendly young people in the world - make an important contribution to the success of sports projects.
