Kazan 2015 OC unveils list of its non-profit partners

To date, 26 ministries and departments representing 20 regions of the Russian Federation and 11 universities of the Republic of Tatarstan have concluded an agreement with the Executive Directorate for Sports Projects - the official organiser of the 16th FINA World Championships in Kazan. As part of this cooperation, the all-Russian team is going to implement the Kazan 2015 volunteer recruitment, selection and training programme, as well as to assist in the promotion of the tournament and aquatic sports.

The partners of the volunteer programme are the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports of the Arkhangelsk Oblast, Ministry of Sports and Tourism of the Astrakhan Oblast, Ministry of Sports and Youth Policy of the Volgograd Oblast, Vyatka State University, Ministry of Physical Culture and Sports of the Krasnodar Krai, Ministry of Sports, Tourism and Youth Policy of the Krasnoyarsk Krai, Ministry of Sports of the Republic of Mari El, Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Mari El, Ministry of Sports and Physical Culture of the Republic of Mordovia, State Committee for Youth Affairs of the Republic of Mordovia, Moscow City Department of Culture, Ministry of Sports and Youth Policy of the Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, Department for Physical Culture and Sports of the Novosibirsk Oblast, Ministry of Regional Policy of the Novosibirsk Oblast, Ministry of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Orenburg Oblast, Department for Physical Culture and Sports of the Primorsky Krai, Department for Youth Affairs of the Primorsky Krai, Ministry of Physical Culture and Sports of the Rostov Oblast, National State University of Physical Education, Sports and Health named after P.F. Lesgaft, Ministry of Physical Culture, Sports and Youth Policy of the Sverdlovsk Oblast, Ministry of Sports of the Samara Oblast, Department for Youth Affairs of the Samara Oblast, Ministry of Youth Policy, Sports and Tourism of the Saratov Oblast, Ministry of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Udmurt Republic, Ministry of Youth Affairs of the Udmurt Republic, Ministry of Physical Culture and Sports of the Chuvash Republic.

As for Tatarstan itself, its major universities have joined the cooperation with the Kazan 2015 OC as early as in the build-up to the 2013 Summer Universiade. The following higher education institutions are contributing to the implementation of the volunteer programme and promoting the FINA World Championships in Tatarstan: Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University,Kazan National Research Technological University, Kazan National Research Technical University named after A.N.Tupolev, Volga Region State Academy of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism, Kazan State Power Engineering University, Kazan State University of Architecture and Engineering, Kazan State Medical University of Roszdrav, TISBI University of Management, Institute of Economics, Management and Law (Kazan), Kazan Cooperative Institute (branch) of the Russian University of Cooperation, Almetyevsk State Institute of Municipal Services.

"It’s nice to know that our colleagues from 20 regions of Russia have joined us in carrying out the FINA World Championships volunteer programme. The importance of strong partnerships increases as we face the task of implementing another international project and reinforcing the image of Russia as a great sports power,” says Head of the Volunteer Department of the Executive Directorate for Sports Projects, Alexander Karpov. “The FINA World Championships are gaining popularity, people’s interest in them is growing day by day, and, more importantly, volunteer projects are strongly supported in the regions by government agencies. I am absolutely positive that with partners like these we are doomed to succeed! "

As we reported earlier, under the cooperation agreement, regions of the Russian Federation will select and train delegations whose members will travel to Kazan to volunteer at the 16th FINA World Championships and FINA World Masters Championships. However, the cooperation began as early as in the spring - its first step was the implementation of the regional awareness-raising project, titled ‘Learn Everything About FINA 2015’. From May to July 2014 it covered over 9,000 people, and in the autumn there will be the second step of the project, covering not less than 20,000 people throughout Russia. In addition, in September Kazan will host the 2014 Volunteers’ Academy Russian Training Camp that will bring together representatives of non-profit partners for the upcoming FINA World Championships.
