July 24 - August 9, 2015
– What are your impressions about Kazan and these Championships?
– These Championships went great. I really enjoyed to be here, to race in Kazan. I hoped to show a little bit better results but nevertheless it was a serious and challenging competition. I am happy to have won the 200m butterfly gold at Kazan 2015.
– Some of the athletes had a sightseeing tour around Kazan. What about you? Did you go sightseeing?
– Not really. I didn’t have time to go sightseeing. I could have a look at Kazan city through the bus window when we were given a lift from the Athletes' Village to the Kazan Arena Stadium. That’s it. Kazan is a very beautiful city but unfortunately I did not have time.
– Are you satisfied with the results you’ve achieved? Or is there something you need to work on?
– Yes, I am. I am happy about my performance, it’s given me more confidence and sort of motivation for the further trainings. There is always left something to be perfected. I will be definitely working on that, enhancing it and gearing up for Rio 2016.
– What can you say about your main rivals?
– These Championships brought really the world's top athletes together. I might compete against some of them at Rio 2016 and I hope to achieve better results there than here.
– How are planning to prepare for the Olympic Games in Rio?
– The work is going to be really hard. We’ll try to keep following the same tactics improving the speed I guess. And if I can do that I think I’ll be capable of showing my best at the upcoming Olympic Games. Long months full of hard work are ahead of me.
– Asian athletes turned out to be a big surprise at these Championships claiming numerous gold medals in various events. What surprised personally you most?
– I was not surprised with that at all. Swimmers all around the world are used to work a lot on self-improving, on the results updating. This time Chinese athletes showed their best. No matter what country the athlete is from, what matters most is usually the talent and the result of long trainings and Chinese athletes really proved that.
– Travelling around the world athletes usually bring some souvenirs or keepsakes home. And what is going to be your gift brought from Kazan 2015?
– I am about to bring two or three souvenirs home. They are volunteers' presents which will remind me of the Championships.
– Who supported you here at the Kazan Championships?
– The Hungarian swimming team has always been there for me at these Championships. Our team is quite friendly and well-knit. We all get along pretty good. Back there in Hungary our club also supports us a lot, providing with training stations so that we could show high results in the future.
