For the first time ever, the FINA World Championships are held at the football stadium in Kazan. At today’s swimming events, there have been quite a lot celebrities in the crowd. Just like all other Russian fans, they came here to give their support to the national swimming team. Football players of FC Rubin Kazan also couldn’t miss such a major event. At this very moment they are watching the swimming competitions, seating in the stands of the stadium, which is also their home stadium, and cheering for Russian swimmers.

Even being seated at the regular stands together with all the other crowd, the football players couldn’t go unnoticed due to their bright home uniforms.

This time the footballers were given a chance to see the Kazan Arena Stadium from a different perspective: not as football players but as spectators. Led by Rinat Bilyaletdinov, FC Rubin Kazan had already played several national championship and Russian Football Cup matches at this very stadium right before the swimming pool installation had begun. But due to the staging of the 2015 FINA World Championships, the football players will be able to start training at the stadium only next year.

The football team is temporarily headquartered at the Central Stadium. Rubin FC played some of its matches there and already advanced to the next round of the UEFA Europe League, ending the game against Sturm FC (Austria) in a draw.

The footballers understand the necessity of the move, Rubin FC halfback, Ilzat Akhmetov, confirmed during a talk with a sports reporter of the OC’s Press Office. Akhmetov stressed the importance of this global event and expressed his admiration with the size and scale of the 16th FINA World Championships.

“The atmosphere is nice. It’s the first time I have been at this kind of event. There are so many people from different countries. It is amazing. I like it here. Yesterday we played a game, today we had a day off. Someone came up with an idea to attend swimming competitions at the Kazan Arena Stadium and we gladly agreed. After all, it’s the first time for me and for all of us. We became interested, so we found some time in our tight schedule and came here,” the footballer said.
