Kanako Watanabe grabs gold in women’s 200m breaststroke

The third final heat has concluded a short time ago at the 16th FINA World Championships in Kazan. Eight best athletes of the world competed in the women's 200m breaststroke event.

The gold medal was claimed by Kanako Watanabe of Japan who covered the distance in 2:21.15. American swimmer Micah Lawrence was the second fastest swimmer in the race touching the wall in 2:22.44. The most exciting struggle unfolded for bronze. Rikke Moller Pedersen of Denmark, Jessica Vall of Spain, Jinglin Shi of China stopped the watch at the same time, 2:22.76, which resulted in all the three female swimmers sharing the third spot on the podium.
