July 24 - August 9, 2015
Yesterday it was Maria Kiseleva, the Russian synchro swimmer, three-time Olympic champion and Kazan 2015 Ambassador, who was rewarding the top volunteers. She mentioned the great contribution the volunteers are making to the Championships’ preparation and delivery. Every single one of the volunteers dreams of ending up on the main stage of the FINA Water World Park and being awarded as the best volunteer of the day.
Arslan Khamitov, a field-of-play volunteer working at the Kazanka Venue, says that positive thinking is the main thing in his job: “Volunteers’ key contributions to these Championships are joy, optimism and positive energy. Meeting athletes in person, talking to them is amazing, it sort of energises you.”
Valeria Kuznetsova is also the girl of the day; she is volunteering at the Kazanka Venue as well. Her duty is to provide assistance to accredited journalists. According to the girl, new acquaintances and loads of positive emotions are a perfect incentive for all volunteers. “Every single day during my shifts I meet loads of people who are as active and positive as I am; it is always fun. Staying active and tons of smiles, that’s what it takes to be the best volunteer.”
The volunteer recognition ceremony is held on the main stage of the FINA Water World Park every day and is open to the public. Every visitor can see top volunteers being rewarded with special gifts – plush toys Itil and Alsu – the official Kazan 2015 mascots.
