July 24 - August 9, 2015
The meeting ended up with a selfie with Dmitry Guberniev. Those who were not able to attend the meeting and take a photo with the celebrity can cheer up because the TV presenter said he enjoyed the interaction with volunteers and promised he will come for another meeting to the volunteers’ headquarters soon.
The journalists of the Press Office of the Organising Committee for the 16th FINA World Championships had a chance to talk to the sports expert, too.
– When you comment during a sporting event, can you guess a winner?
– I never bet because I never know who comes first; sport is unpredictable.
– Sport is in your element. Haven’t you ever thought of becoming a referee?
– I have never wanted to become a referee. To each their own.
– Do you mentally prepare yourself before going on the air?
– I have nothing like this. The main things for me are good nutrition, enough sleep and hard work.
– What difficulties may arise during live broadcasts?
– Technical problems seem to be the most frequent ones; the signal can be off or the connection can break. Sports commentators should just be absolutely ready for almost everything, even to work like on the radio without seeing what’s going on. It shouldn’t come as a surprise.
– Do you think Russia stands a chance of taking a lead in the medal standings?
– I am not going to make any predictions because most countries are strong enough.
– Who surprised you most at these Championships?
- The young ones! Evgeny Rylov, Aleksandr Krasnykh, they will compete in the final heats. But I especially like Anastasiia Fesikova. I will root for everyone!
