Tonight a tussle between the strongest and toughest took place in the women’s 3m springboard competition with a lot of dramatic diving mistakes and unexpected breakthroughs. And yet again Team China made its fans happy by earning gold and silver in the event.

“The 2015 FINA World Championships are over for me. I see achievements and results of my work. I want to congratulate Shi Tingmao and the Italian athlete on their victories,” silver medallist He Zi said. Her answer was quite tactful when she was asked about competition with her teammate: “Each of us has her pluses. Our diving styles are different. I think I can learn from Shi Tingmao, especially her entry.”

“I would like to congratulate all the participants. We showed ourselves off 100 percent; we gave everything we could, demonstrated everything we had worked on during our training sessions. Every round was long enough to get exhausted in the end. I think we can now relax a bit,” world champion Shi Tingmao said at the press conference.

“I am quite satisfied with these results. Honestly I did not expect to strike bronze, I thought I would need to earn more points to get it. I was already happy with winning the 1m springboard and as for this event I was really okay with it. Since the Canadian diver failed to execute her last dive, I was lucky enough to take bronze in the end,” Tania Gagnotto said with a smile.

Shi Tingmao’s tactics were remarkable although all her dives were not that difficult in comparison with her opponents’ dives. This raised the question as to how she is planning to train in the future.

“I am about to perform my dives with the same degree of difficulty even though I would really want to improve them a bit, to make my dives perfect. In the future I see them more elegant, more well-honed,” the gold medallist said to journalists.
