Medal winners have gathered at the press conference immediately after the mixed synchronised 10m platform final. The Chinese athletes revealed that they are not sure whether they will be performing together in the future.

The Australian athletes were in a good mood. It turned out that they’ve been training separately before and started training together only two days prior to the event. “Our expectations indeed have come true,” Melissa Wu said. “Third place is our level so far and we are happy about that,” Domonic Bedggood added. This duet said that they simply did not have the necessary equipment.

Canada’s Meaghan Benfeito, whose duet pulled ahead of the Australian one with only a two-point difference, is pretty satisfied with the results: “It was our best performance of this season. We are happy to have a silver medal.”

The Chinese divers told that they were very nervous because this was their first Championships.

Answering journalists’ questions, Xiaohu Tai noted: “We had some problems with synchronicity.” Yajie Si agreed with her partner: “This is our first time performing a mixed 10m platform dive together at such a high-ranking competition. I had a feeling like my partner might not be able to complete it, but we made it. We probably were not the most synchronised duet, since we only had a month to practice.”

As for future plans, the female athlete answered: “We are not sure whether we will be performing together in the future, as we don’t know if our qualifications allow us to perform as a team, so the plans remain ambiguous for now.”
