Recruitment events held for volunteer candidates in Nizhnekamsk

13.03.2015, 18:12 Volunteers
In November 2014, the Kazan 2015 Organising Committee launched selection events in the Republic of Tatarstan and 20 regions of the Russian Federation to choose volunteers willing to contribute to a successful staging of the 2015 FINA World Championships in Kazan. The recruitment campaign is now coming to an end - in February, partner regions settled preliminary lists of volunteer delegations and at the end of March recruiters will wrap up their face-to-face interviews with candidates from Kazan and from cities and regions of Tatarstan.

In March, the team of recruiters will focus all their efforts on the recruitment of candidates representing cities and regions of the Republic of Tatarstan - personal and phone interviews have been held with boys and girls from all parts of the republic since the beginning of the month. Citizens of Naberezhnye Chelny, Nizhnekamsk and Almetyevsk are the most active ones since the largest number of applications was submitted from these cities. It should be noted that one of the Kazan 2015 volunteer training centres was opened in Almetyevsk; it is located in Almetyevsk State Institute of Municipal Services. In addition to that, the Organising Committee is arranging special selection events during which experts of the Volunteer Department are visiting Naberezhnye Chelny and Nizhnekamsk and having face-to-face interviews with candidates.

The first such selection event took place on March 13 at the local branch of the Institute of Economics, Management and Law in Nizhnekamsk. 42 candidates - mainly local students and working youth - attended the event. During short interviews, recruiters asked volunteers about their experience and reasons for volunteering, assessed their English language skills, discussed volunteer positions candidates are most interested in and briefed them on benefits of the volunteer programme for candidates from Tatarstan. A range of special services will be rendered to them between July 18 and August 10: upon their arrival in Kazan, volunteers will get their accreditation badges, collect uniforms and undergo a series of trainings as part of the volunteer educational programme following which they will take up their roles at the FINA World Championships that will take place between July 24 and August 9, 2015. As we previously reported, the Masters tournament will be staged through the efforts of volunteers from Kazan.

Non-local volunteers, namely volunteers from the Republic of Tatarstan, regions of Russia and international volunteers, will be provided with the following additional services: accommodation, three meals per day, free travel around Kazan, uniforms, and benefits of the motivational programme.

Formation of venue teams and special teams for some functional areas (for example, team attachés and protocol volunteers), which will follow the awareness-raising campaign and application process, will be the logical end to the series of selection events. Sheets with results of interviews with each volunteer candidate feature comments concerning key abilities and skills, level of proficiency in foreign languages and volunteer roles that a candidate is most interested in. A single database will serve as a source for volunteer managers to pick the most motivated candidates who meet the requirements and tasks of this or that volunteer position to the fullest extent, keeping in mind a candidate's preferences in a type of activity, sport or sports venue. In April 2015, all candidates who are successful at their interviews, will receive a job offer and officially change their status from 'candidate' to 'Championships volunteer'.
