Being the sports capital of Russia, Kazan was awarded the right to become the host city of the 2013 Summer Universiade and group matches of the 2018 FIFA World Cup. And now Kazan is to bid for holding one of the largest and most spectacular world championships.

Kazan’s Bid Book was officially submitted today, April 5, in London within the framework of the the 2011 SportAccord Convention. The Ceremony was attended by FINA President Dr. Julio Cesar Maglione, FINA Executive Director Cornel Marculescu, Executive Director of the Russian Olympic Committee Marat Bariev and Kazan 2015 Bidding Committee Director, Director General of the Kazan 2013 Executive Directorate Vladimir Leonov.
Indeed Kazan nowadays is one of the most drastically developing cities of the Russian Federation. The city’s infrastructure ventures upon hosting the largest international sporting competitions and mondial events. According to the last data alongside with Kazan the representatives of the 4 metropolises are interested in hosting the 2015 FINA World Championships, which are Hong Kong (HKG), Guadalajara (MEX), Guangzhou (CHN) and Montreal (CAN, only for 2017). However, the short list of cities-candidates (bidders) will be generated after April 8. The vote by the Bureau on the host of the competition will take place on July15, 2011 with the occasion of the 14th FINA World Championships in Shanghai (CHN).
The programme of the FINA World Championships includes swimming, diving, synchronised swimming, water polo and open water swimming.
